For the benefit of my North American friends, Taiwan was once known in the West as Formosa, from the Portuguese: Ilha Formosa, “Beautiful Island,” likely named because of the island’s rugged mountain vistas.

Taiwan is situated in East Asia in the Western Pacific Ocean, off the southeastern coast of mainland China. Taiwan is inhabited by over 23 million industrious people.

Taiwan is home to several major universities. The “Taiwan Economic Miracle” is an export-driven economy. Did you know that Taiwanese companies manufacture a large portion of the world’s consumer electronics? On a lighter note, have you ever consumed bubble tea? Guess where it originated. Many Taiwanese enjoy baseball and several Taiwanese players have played in America’s Major League.

XYNGULAR is currently working with banks to set up an eWallet for commission payments in Taiwan and expects to launch in Taiwan this October.
